SMZ's Michigan Dental Association TV Commercials Honored with Healthcare Advertising Award

Troy, Mich. — (May 30, 2008) —Simons Michelson Zieve Advertising Inc. (SMZ) won a Gold award at the 25th Annual Healthcare Advertising Awards for its Michigan Dental Association “Alarm” spots.  The commercials were produced last fall as part of the MDA’s effort to inform and educate the public about the connection between oral and overall health.
“The commercials are a fun but effective way to encourage patients to discuss with their MDA dentist how their oral health is potentially linked to other health issues,” said Tom Kochheiser, director of marketing and public information for the Michigan Dental Association.
The two spots, “Jogger” and “Golfer,” are extensions of the MDA’s campaign, “Want a Healthy Body?  Start with a healthy mouth.”  The campaign encourages consumers to see their dentist regularly.  Preventive dental care can identify symptoms in the mouth related to undetected problems in other parts of the body, including cancer, diabetes, heart disease and pregnancy complications.
The Healthcare Advertising Awards is the oldest and largest healthcare advertising awards competition, with over 4,000 entries received this year.  The awards are sponsored by Healthcare Marketing Report, the leading publication covering all aspects of healthcare marketing, advertising and strategic business development.
Established in 1929, SMZ Advertising Inc. provides full-service advertising and integrated marketing communications for a variety of national, regional and local accounts.  SMZ also offers public relations services to its clients through its public relations division, SMZ PR Partners.
